Maria D. Sayers
Maria D. Sayers recently joined Harris Lowry Manton, LLP as an Associate in October 2018, after working as a contractor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Savannah and owning her own law firm. She focuses primarily on business tort cases and plaintiff’s litigation at the firm’s Savannah office.
Maria previously served as the coordinator for Chatham County’s Indigent Defense Unit, where she collaborated with judiciary, executives and attorneys to ensure timely appointment of counsel in indigent criminal cases. She also served as Staff Attorney to Chatham County Superior Court Judge Penny Haas Freesemann and worked for all six Superior Court judges under the direction of former Chief Judge Perry Brannen, Jr. Earlier in her career, she worked as an Associate Attorney at a major law firm in Savannah.
Maria earned a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law and a B.A. in Journalism and Spanish, magna cum laude, from Georgia State University.
A longtime member of the Georgia Bar Association and the Savannah Bar Association, Maria has a strong commitment to public service. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Savannah Bar Association and previously served as President of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers, board member for the Junior League of Savannah and board member for the Truancy Intervention Project in Savannah.
